OBSERVER EFFECT - VIDEO OUT FEBRUARY 10
"Does form follow function? To see me is to be appeased. But is that 'cause I'm really something, or because I aim to please?"
'observer effect' asks the listener to question their ever-shifting view of themselves. Songwriter Meg Thompson speaks candidly through the song as a live performer, wondering how her art is interpreted through her body.

about us
L’omelette weaves pop, jazz and punk into colourful, honest, genre-fluid tapestries. The Calgary art-rockers dart between prog and new-wave rock rhythms and synth-led dance pop, tethered by commanding melodies and current concepts.
Meg Benedict’s vocal, sax and synth stylings are underpinned by guitarist Alex Klipper’s thoughtful and driving riffs; Matthew Lowe’s infectiously melodic bass lines; and Peter Cormier’s diamond-cut drumming and backup vocals. With them, there’s always something vivacious, heady, danceable and thought-provoking to chew on.
Their sophomore album, Il Faut Qu’on Bouge (We’ve Gotta Move), portrays a distillment of thematic content. Still digging into humanity, wellness and mental health, lyricist Meg dives into topics such as fast fashion, body image, rejection of socioeconomic pressures, and the delicate relationship between self and other. These themes are encapsulated in punchy synth and guitar-driven dance-pop and post-punk numbers. The record was produced and mixed by Calgarian independent engineer and artist Taylor Cochrane at 36? Studios in Calgary, AB / Mohkínstsis, and is to be released March 21, 2025.
L’omelette reminds their listeners that they're not alone in their strange experience. To discuss the raw parts of life in an uplifting and socialized way is one of the best things that can be done to celebrate being human. The group’s collaborative compositions never shy away from pain and presence, telling stories that aim to connect and affirm.
The band looks forward to an exciting 2025, after an unforgettable 2024 - highlights include 2 single and video releases, and appearances at Calgary Folk Fest and South Country Fair 2024. L’omelette has just announced their hometown album release party and a handful of Canada-wide dates in celebration of their album’s release, with more to be announced shortly. The band will also debut a brand new music video collaboration with Calgary photographer Sebastian Buzzalino on March 21.
