about us

L’omelette weaves threads of soul, jazz and punk into colourful, emotionally honest tapestries. The Calgary art-rockers dart between progressive and new-wave rock rhythms and synth-led dance pop, tied together by commanding, current concepts and melodies.

Frontwoman Meg Benedict’s fierce vocal, saxophone and synth stylings are underpinned by guitarist Alex Klipper’s thoughtful, driving riffs, Matthew Lowe’s infectiously melodic bass lines, and Peter Cormier’s double-duty drumming and backup vocals. The result? Something to chew on - a vivacious, heady, danceable, thought-provoking performance.

Their forthcoming sophomore album, ‘Il Faut Qu’on Bouge’ (We’ve Gotta Move), portrays an maturing evolution in the band’s sound and a distillment of thematic content. Still honing in on issues of mental health, lyricist Meg Thompson dives deep into heavy sociocultural topics such as fast fashion, body image, rejection of economic pressures, the passing of loves ones, the struggle with addiction, anxiety and depression, reliance on technology, and more. These themes are masterfully encapsulated in punchy synth and guitar-driven dance pop numbers. The record was produced by Calgarian independent engineer and artist Taylor Cochrane, of the band 36?, and is to be released in Spring of 2025.

Unapologetically dissecting the delicate mental health of young people, L’omelette reminds their listeners that they're not alone in their strange experience. To discuss the real and hard parts of life in an uplifting and socialized way is one of the best things that can be done to end the stigma against talking and seeking help. The group’s collaborative compositions never shy away from pain and presence, telling emotionally honest stories that aim to connect and affirm.

This year is sure to be an exciting one for L’omelette, as they prepare for festival appearances and the release of singles from their upcoming record. Summer highlights to come include appearances at South Country Fair and this year’s Calgary Folk Music Festival, along with more singles set for release.
